Cruelty Free Night Skin Care Routine

I’ve spent so many years researching and testing countless products to implement into the perfect nightly skin care routine. Typically when I pick up a serum or toner to try, it doesn’t one of two things: makes me break out or does absolutely nothing for my skin. I’m finally finallyyyyy to the point where I feel like I have a solid routine at bedtime to get every last bit of makeup off and to help my face recover from the day.

One thing I’ve noticed when chatting on this subject with friends is that most women aren’t interested in investing a ton of time in using multiple products right before bed when it’s so much easier to just crash without worrying about makeup removal.

If there’s one thing that I’d love for you to take away from this post, it’s that you have to haveeeeee to at the very least remove your makeup before bed to let your pores breathe! Over time, this means healthier skin, healthy oil production (leaving makeup caked on and clogging the pores can actually lead to overproduction of sebum in the face), and removing your makeup every night even events signs of aging. While makeup is so much fun and totally wonderful, nothing beats a fresh naked face when it comes to your skin’s overall health 🙂

Ok enough about that.

*gets off of soapbox to actually talk about the products that you came here to hear about*

Simple Kind To Skin Cleansing Wipes

Find more details here:

The first and most important step in a nightly routine is makeup removal, as I mentioned a million times above. I’ve been using these from Simple for a few years now, and I adore them. They’re a great size, they get the job done, and they don’t leave any weird film or slip on my face. I’ve never had any issues with breakouts or feeling dry after using them, and the price is totally budget friendly.

Botanics All Bright Cleansing Foam Wash

Find more details here:

I use this face wash to help remove any leftover makeup off of the surface of my skin. It has a good amount of grittiness to really lift away dirt and other impurities stuck to your face from the day. The smell is absolutely INCREDIBLE, and this cleansing wash really does a great job at striking a balance between deep cleaning and being gentle enough to not suck the life out of your skin.

Alba Acnedote Deep Cleaning Astringent

$6.69 at Target

You might have seen this featured in my morning skin care routine post. You can check that out here. This deep cleaning astringent by Alba really does the job when it comes to deeeeeep cleaning every little pore. At this point, I wouldn’t dare skip this step morning or night, because I know for a fact that I’d break out without it. I apply this with an exfoliating cotton pad and it picks up every last bit of makeup in my pores.

Thayer’s Witch Hazel Toner with Rose

Find more details here:

Another product also featured in my morning routine, this rose water toner helps to reduce the look of dark spots and acne scars. I’ve been using this for about 8 months now and I can definitely see my my face looking much brighter and my skin tone is much more evened out. I apply this with a cotton round as well.

Botanics All Bright Hydrating Night Cream

Find more details here:

I picked up this night cream not too long ago, and I can honestly say that it’s the only night cream that I’ve ever loved this much. Normally, heavy moisturizers leave me feeling ultra greasy, but this one from Botanics, a sister company of No7, is water based and moisturizes so well without feeling like I have globs of product on my face. This moisturizer utilizes Alpha hydroxy acid derived from hibiscus plants to gently encourage the sloughing off of dead skin cells so that you can wake up with a smoother and brighter face.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Lavender, Chamomile, and Aloe

Find more details here:

I finish moisturizing with the lavender, chamomile, and aloe facial spray from Mario Badescu. Not only do these ingredients smell incredible, they brighten the skin while encouraging relaxation to help you sleep. I adore all of the Badescu mists, and have found so much use for them over the years. This one is perfect for sealing in moisture right before going to sleep.

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

Find more details here:

This drying lotion, also from our friend Mario, is something that I use off and on, as needed. If I notice that I might be starting to get a break out, I use this spot treatment to stop it from getting any worse. Typically this takes care of the problem over night – I can’t imagine not having it on hand. I just dip a q-tip into the pink sediment at the bottom, dot it on wherever I need it, and rinse it off in the morning!

Dr. Bronner’s Organic Lip Balm

Find more details here:

Finally, I finish everything off with this peppermint lip balm from Dr. Bronner. It smells amazing, feels amazing, and moisturizes so well over night. It’s only $2 a tube, and I picked mine up at Whole Foods. While you’re at it, check out the Dr. Bronner’s soaps and toothpaste. This guy’s products will rock your world.
