In my opinion, October through December encompasses everything good about life smushed into just a few months – crisper weather, family time, hot cocoa, an excuse to eat your weight in pies…
most importantly, this time of year is prime time for new makeup releases as well as holiday gift sets.
My go to place when it comes to shopping the new releases and gifts sets would have to be Ulta. They do a fantastic job of offering free gifts with purchase, especially this time of year, and the Ultimate Rewards Program is SO worth your time.
I’ve gone through their holiday gift guide to narrow it down to a few key palettes/sets that are:
A) Cruelty free and/or vegan
B) Actually worth investing in and not just something that you’ll use once and forget about on December 26th.

Urban Decay Naked Cherry Palette

This has been out for a minute, but I have a feeling that it’s going to be a hot item on lots of Christmas lists this year. As much as I love the red and orange shadows that we saw so much of this Fall, I’m loving the cranberry vibes in Urban Decay’s latest Naked debut. This brand has managed to corner the market with their anticipated yearly releases and perfectly formulated shadows. I’ve been a long time lover of Urban Decay because their palettes are well put together, versatile, incredibly bendable, and long wearing.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry Palette

I am so excited about this palette. Like, SO excited. These shadows are a great investment for a few reasons – You get a great selection of gorgeous neutrals, including mattes and metallics. It can easily go from day to night with a touch of “dystopian” or “noir”. If you’re feeling extra funky, you can pop “bloom” on your lids and stand out with a totally unique neon red look. Lastly, the shimmer shadows are absolutely STUNNING. Instead of the standard gold that you can find in so many palettes, Anastasia gives you a rose gold, a copper, and a chrome just to name a few. Out of all of the new palette releases, I’m most excited about this one.
Smashbox Holidaze Contour + Spotlight Palette

The Smashbox Holidaze release is one of my favorites that I’ve seen from them. The packaging on each of the Holidaze products is totally psychedelic – something new and original when it comes to makeup promoted for Christmas time. Even though this contour palette is holiday themed, it can definitely be used over and over year round. I love this one because it does a great job of mixing cool tones for contouring, warmer tones for warming up the face, matte light tones for brightening, and shimmers for highlighting. On top of that, a couple of these shades can also be utilized for blushing.
If you like this, there are a couple other noteworthy pieces in the Holidaze collection that peaked my interest:

NYX Professional Makeup Sweet Chateau Slip Tease Lip Oil Mid – Vault

I’ve tried a couple of the full size slip teases from NYX over the past few months and I have been so so impressed with them. They apply extremely well, and look absolutely gorgeous. I love this holiday themed set because you can try a vault of twelve minis for about $2 a piece. The best part about this set is that it comes with both natural colors and a few that are a little more off the wall (look to the bottom right lol). If you want to try out a several quality lip products and you’ve always been curious as to whether or not you could rock a turquoise lip, this is for you.
